Come Alive!

I have had the enormous pleasure of being asked to work on Come Alive!, the Greatest Showman Circus Spectacular at Earls Court over the last year.

Working on this show has reinforced how important it is for singers to build fitness and vocal stamina. Many covers for principal roles are also gymnasts and dancers. It is quite extraordinary to work with this level of talent. One minute they are swinging from their hair at stupendous heights, and the next they are covering the lead roles, singing in mixed belt at vocal extremes.

Young singers often underestimate how consistently they need to practice to achieve this level of vocal stamina. Once you are signed on a contract, it is often too late to put in consistent practice. So if you are a recent graduate from a Drama school, keep up that regular practice! Auditions and show contracts always happen when you least expect them.
